Leonard Snart isn't your average 33 year old man. For one he's been on his own for most of his life. His mother died when he was a baby, he doesn't even really remember her. His step mother loved him but wasn't able to help him when he needed it the most. His father was a piece of shit who did everything he could to try and ruin Leonard's life from the beginning. Some might think that's a little melodramatic, but Len's father was a crook plain and simple. And a mean one at that. He was a dirty cop who lied, stole, and beat his son when he didn't behave exactly how Lewis wanted him too. Tired of all of it Len took a chance and went to the police when he was 14 years old. His father was planning to make a huge heist and he was forcing Len to go along with it. The teen knew it would fail...and knew he would more than likely be blamed for it all so he tried. He confessed, he told the police everything and thankfully the officer who interviewed him believed him. His father was arrested and sentenced to life in prison without parole.

At first Len was afraid he'd wind up in the system but Lisa's mom stepped forward and agreed to be his guardian until he was of age. That meant he got to see Lisa grow up..it meant he got to finish high school and go to trade school. He stayed with them even after he graduated to help out because Lisa's mom couldn't do everything and work 3 jobs. Things were hard but they were good for several years. When Len was 24 and Lisa was 16, almost 17 her mother fell ill and subsequently passed away. Len applied for and was granted custody of her and they stayed in that little apartment because it was really all they could afford. Lisa's mom had enough set aside to bury her essentially and not much else. That helped at least...they didn't have to worry about a roof or food. Len's security repair and installation job was enough to pay the bills and do a little but of fun things. So it was just the two of them and the next seven years were good. Lisa went to college on an athletic scholarship. She was bound for the Olympics when she got injured and was forced to retire early. She didn't mind though, she started teaching at the ice rink and she had people flocking to be trained by an olympic hopeful and someone who was genuinely a nice person...if a bit flirty.

At 25 Lisa was sharp as a tack and gorgeous and wonderful. She did what she could to help with the bills and she always made sure Len took care of himself too. Yeah...things seemed on the uptick...then the bubble burst again. One the way home from the ice rink one evening Lisa was mugged and beaten to within an inch of her life. Her leg broken in three places, broken wrist, three broken ribs, several broken fingers, black eye, internal bruising....she spent almost three weeks in the hospital and required several surgeries and followups to make sure everything healed right. She hadn't even started therapy yet and already they were drowning in medical bills.

Len hid them from her..even with his meager insurance policy there just wasn't enough to cover it all and they certainly didn't have enough coming in to cover it. Len spent several days begging every bank in the city for a loan only to be told no over and over. With Lisa back in the hospital for hopefully the last surgery Len did what he swore he would never do again. He did what he thought was the only thing he could do to make sure Lisa had what she needed. He looked up one of his fathers old partners and arranged a meeting. He didn't want to be a criminal...but Lisa needed him and for her he would do absolutely anything.

Barry wishes it was easier to forget Leonard. It was his own fault for caring, for getting involved. He should have cut his losses before allowing Snart to see how lonely he was.

So a couple of days later he's at the same bar with a bottle at his elbow, downing shot after shot it's just a coincidence.
Right?
Right.

He's a monster.
It would probably just be easier if he could accept it.

It's been almost three days and Leonard is now DREAMING of Barry Allen when he sleeps. Good dreams too. Sexy ones that leave him hard and aching in the morning or waking up to a sticky mess he has to clean up

Suffice it to say he's very surprised when he walks into the bar and there's Barry Allen nursing a bottle of booze. Part of him wants to just turn around and leave but a bigger part just wants to get drunk. So he walks over to the bar.

The only open stool is next to Barry so he takes it and orders a whiskey neat and a beer as he sits down.

Barry pours himself another drink.
He barely glances at the movement bedside him but the voice absolutely has his attention.
Leonard.

He doesn't offer to pay for his drink or even get the bartender to pull one of the better bottles for him.
Fuck you Barry Allen.

He'd killed people for less.
Cisco certainly had.
So why did Leonard leave him so twisted up inside?

The beat up old jukebox is playing some kind of country song and as he sips his whiskey Leonard can't help but hear the lyrics and think about how ironic they are.

And the thing that really gets me

Ain't that the fucking God's honest truth.

He listens to the song for a moment longer and when it hits the chorus once more he motions the bartender and asks for a better bottle of booze than what Barry is drinking and when it's placed in front of him Len pours himself a drink and then refill's Barry's glass. Then he raises his glass in a toast.

"Here's to memories that drown out the whiskey." And then he takes the shot with a mild wince and pours himself another.

He's barely paying attention to the music, drowning in his own memories. There's a flicker of movement and fresh whiskey in his glass and he tips his head at Leonard.

He wishes it could have been different.
The toast is met with a smile bordering on mournful. Still, he isn't rude and he taps their glasses together.

"I'll drink to that."

Len keeps drinking and they quietly get through half the bottle before he stands up and tosses enough money on the table to hopefully cover both himself and Barry. Of course the money was from Barry in the first place...whatever he's not going to think about that.

"Come on kid, I need a burger and this place wont cut it."

A snort. "I'm twenty six you know. Not a kid." He won't push Leonard's money back at him, but he will stand up and follow him outside.

"Why?" He asks quietly, once they're alone, half hidden in the dark. Why would he possibly want to spend time with the man who demanded his body?

Len doesn't comment on his age and doesn't say anything until they're a couple blocks away from the bar. His hands are buried in his pockets to fend off the chill but he's relaxed. Or appears relaxed.

"Because, as much as it was bad it was still the best sex I've ever had. And...if your willing, I'd like to do it again." He stops suddenly and faces Barry.

"Not like before. Not cold. If we do it again it's because we both want it. Not because you're using me to assuage whatever it is that's eating you up inside."

Barry walks with him because he really doesn't know what else to do tonight. The statement brings him up short and he stares at Leonard. He'd like to do it again?

A sound that's both bitter and pained as he shakes his head. "You have no idea what kind of baggage that comes with a monster like me."

"You're a good man. You deserve better."

[cold_n_calculating]

“I’m not a good man. I have done plenty of bad things too. And lots of people deserve better. You deserve better than you got. I ain’t asking you to marry me or hell even to date me. I’m offering great sex and a friendly face.”

Barry pauses, dragging his hands across his face because how could Len say that he deserves better? A ragged sigh. "So you're offering sex? Something without strings or obligation?"

"I don't have time for a relationship and you don't strike me as the relationship type. But please, correct me if I'm wrong.

I also get the feeling that was the first time you'd done something like that. What you did to me. After I thought about it some more...picked it apart. Your little friend was pretty pissed at me, like I was the one at fault."

Barry looks at him thoughtfully for a long moment. Considers. He reaches into his wallet and peels off a few bills. "Okay. Go to the Plaza Hotel downtown. Check in. I'll meet you there in a bit."

He needs to think.
He needs to consider what he's really doing here.

But Barry does want this. Want Leonard. To be touched. To be able to touch.

“You wanna pick up some Food on your way back? I’ll eat just about anything.” Len asks as he takes the money Barry hands him. “I wasn’t lying about being hungry.”

"I can eat a lot. I'll pick some up, order everything on the room service menu once you check in. I'll cover the cost, but it's probably better for you if you aren't seen with me in the hotel." His lips thin. "CCPD would take a little too much interest in you."

Thai, Chinese, Mexican, American, he'll make the rounds through the city before going back to the hotel.

"How will you know what room I'm in?" Len asks before heading to the hotel. He checks into the room and heads up. He orders the whole menu as Barry requested and then sits back waiting for him to get there.

He thinks about what Barry said. About how the CCPD would like to question him if they see him with Barry. He's probably not wrong. The CCPD has been after him for a while now. He supposes that it's a good thing he knows how to avoid them.

"I'll find you."

About ten minutes later there's an odd vibration sound in the hallway before Barry just phases through the door, arms heavy with bags of food. "It's just me," he declares. Slipping in too fast for others to see is probably safer for both of them.

"I hit most of the good places in downtown Central. What are you in the mood for?"

Leonard does jump when Barry phased through the door. Okay that's unsettling. That could be both awesome and creepy.

He did smile at Barry though. A couple minutes before room service had delivered all the food so everything was covered in trays and plates. He was nibbling a few French fries when Barry arrived.

He moves to clear off some table space for the food Barry brought and then smiles. "Got any Thai?"

The smile is nice. Nicer than what he's used to.

Barry nods, "A few different things, take your pick." He starts poking at the delivered food, wolfing down a few dishes to make up for the calories burned while running.

It's also a delaying tactic, putting off the conversation they'll have to have prior to sex.

Len chooses a stir fry dish with chicken, chilies, basil, onions and a delicious sauce. He opens some rice and thoroughly enjoys it along with a few potstickers and spring rolls. There really is so much food.

"So. Star Trek or Star Wars?"
